CHINESE EDITION FOR PHUKET
Chinese residents and tourists on the southern Thailand island of Phuket are getting their own local language edition of one of the two local English newspapers.
According to a sales email The Phuket News has launched a 5,000-copy Chinese edition of its fortnightly newspaper for the island - tapping in to the increasing numbers of Chinese who are visiting the island and, from my own sector, starting to buy properties there.
I can recall the outcry in Reading, a commuter town in middle-England close to where I grew up, when a monthly Polish language newspaper was launched. That was some 15 years ago I recall.
Obviously The Phuket News has deemed there is enough advertising revenue to be made from this venture. Good luck to them,
