ENGLISH: STILL USED AND STILL WRONG
This may appear somewhat strange, but as far as magazines in Thailand are concerned it's nothing out of the ordinary.
From the cover of the September edition of free-copy monthly Away magazine you'd think this was an English magazine - right? Wrong - it's totally Thai content except for this cover, occasional headlines and a back-cover ad for China Airlines. Explain that one.
English was, and still is, a niche publishing language in Thailand, yet its use especially on the cover seems to create some kind of "we're better than everyone else" attitude.
That's when they get it right and employ a native English journalist or copy-checker. Forgive me but the headline on this edition is wrong and there is no consistency to the style.
Why use English when you get it wrong, or when you cannot afford to employ the services of someone to check it before you publish?
