DAY ONE AT WORK IN BANGKOK
Today - Thursday - is my first day working for Bangkok Station Network Co Ltd. It's lunchtime now and everyone, and I mean everyone, leaves the office for one hour to eat. Working hours for me are 9am until 6pm and that is pretty normal for Thailand. I don't have to work at weekends although it is petty common to have to work at least pat of Saturday.
The journey to work is interesting - it starts with a three minute walk to the mouth of the Soi (lane) to pick up a taxi. If I call one to collect me at the apartment then it costs an extra 20 baht. So, taxi ride for about four miles to the ferry which crosses the river. The taxi costs aboout 50-60 baht which is just less than one pound. The it's three baht for the 2 minute ferry crossing to the BTS skytrain station, then four stops on the skytrain followed by another short walk to my office. All in all it will take about 60-75 minutes and cost about one pound and thirty pence. (Sorry for the lack of pound symbol - I'm using a Thai keyboard).
I have to say the view from my office is AMAZING. I am on the 25th floor and you can literally see for miles. I'll try and take a few pictures in the next week or so.
Well, back to work now ... write to me if you have some time to spare !
