UNDERSTANDING THAI

I was making a list of the Thai words I know yesterday, and it was quite surprising. I guess I now know how to say about 60 words or phrases in Thai. Some are standard one - like 'Sawadee' which can mean both hello and goodbye, but others I have picked up are a bit more obscure.
I know how to say 'two people' when buying a ticket on the bus (for me and Tanya) or when paying for the morning ferry crossing of the Chao Phraya river, and I also know that 'narak' means nice because a couple of my work colleagues have already used it about me.
I also know how to say 'Give me your paw' and 'sit' when talking to Tanya's two dogs, but I think they might soon become the only bi-lingual dogs in Bangkok.
As I have said before, that Thais really appreciate it if you make an effort to speak even just a few words in their language, and that's the first piece of advice I would give to anyone thinking of coming here for a holiday.
Pictured above in Mooto, one of Tanya's dogs, having a wash. We normally give Mooto and Piak, her sister, a wash on Sunday afternoons but I think I normally get just as wet as them!
