BACK TO NORMAL

Bangkok this morning is back to its chaotic self - but I am happy to report my first sightings of soliders on the streets. There were a few at some of the major intersections on the journey to work - looking a bit bored if I am honest.
There have been some great images taken of the events of the past 36 hours - and this one best describes the atmosphere in the city right now. It's very calm and very orderly.
The head of the coup has said that he intends to appoint a caretaker prime minister within the next couple of weeks, and to hold democratic elections in one year. That is worrying because one more year of political uncertainty isn't going to be good for the Thai economy. Many foreign investors were waiting for the outcome of the elections that were due to be held before the end of this year, and any delay is surely only going to give these companies more reasons to postpone their investments here?
