CITY IN THE MOUNTAINS

Chiang Mai is surrounded by mountains - actually the whole of the northern part of the kingdom is pretty mountainous. With that in mind I was pretty surprised to see a Thai Airways jumbo taxing in as we were departing last Friday. I had assumed (wrongly) that only the smaller jets and turboprops were capable of using the airport, but I have since found out that the runway is identical in length to that at the current Bangkok International Airport.
I think this picture is quite dramatic - what do you think ?
