THIS WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH

I just had to include this experience as it's typical of business life in Thailand, or in my company at least.
This afternoon at 2.30pm I had a brief chat with my boss. He wants my opinion about an idea he has for a Japanese language publication featuring information about the Stock Exchange of Thailand. (Information is available already in Thai and English, but given that Japan provides the greatest investment into Thailand then I think it's got potential). We'd chatted about two months ago over lunch about a similar project but that all.
Well, 20 minutes later my boss tells me, smiling, that we wants me to interview two candidates for a position of Thai-to-Japanese translators. No problem I thought, until I realised that one was already in reception and the other was walking through the door. At the point my boss looked at his watch, made his excuses and walked out of the office.
You know I have no knowledge of Thai, let alone Japanese, but my boss trusts my judgement and thought I was the best person to chat with them. It was a good thing that they both speak good English, but when my boss gets back on Monday I am really going to ask him for a bit more notice next time !
