SOME INTERESTING STATISTICS ...

... which show that there are just under 64,000 non-Thai people with work permits in Thailand. Of that figure, only 8 per cent are British. The majority (22 per cent) are Japanese . In the 12 months from May 2005 to May 2006 the figure increased by something like 16 per cent.
Of course there are more foreigners other than those included in the figures above, such as on tourist visas or the like, but only 64,000 or thereabouts are legally allowed to work.
