HAVING A LAUGH

The great thing about my job is the ability to have a laugh with my colleagues now and again. My recent attack of gout has been the source of great amusement to most of my staff, but I really don't mind.
My boss (who is Japanese) just asked me to write a speech for him for a forthcoming event we have to promote the new magazine. He said he wanted something short and to the point. Five minutes after his request I hobbled into his office and presented his speech to him. It said 'Thank you all for coming, please enjoy the food'. He hasn't stopped laughing. Well, it's short and to the point.
My boss is great. Apparently he never used to laugh, let alone smile, before I arrived. Now he's a lot more light-hearted, and I has rubbed off on the staff. Sure it's hard work but that doesn't mean we can't have fun and have a laugh now and again.

The power of laughter and the tie in the workplace... can't be matched!

Hi Andrew... I just saw your comment on the Uxbridge Gazette Editor blog about ties and how you feel that the smartening up of the workforce as helped increase productivity.

I have recently started Tiesplanet.com an internet retailer of men's ties. We produce a fortnightly email newsletter and I wondered if you would be interested in featuring in an issue of it. I am sure our members would be interested to see your opinion on dresscode.

I can be contacted at andrew@tiesplanet.com.
