ANOTHER INTERESTING CANDIDATE
I had an email yesterday from a candidate for one of our editorial positions. What's different about this chap is that he is 67-years-old.
I've never been one to discriminate because of age, and I have to admit I am very interested in him because of his background which includes seven years with Associated Press and 16 years with the United States Embassy reporting service. He was working for AP in Bangkok at the time of the Vietnam war and pretty much helped to set up their bureau here.
You cannot buy experience like that and I know he will have some great stories to tell. He'll also be very useful as a mentor for our younger journalists. I am not sure whether he will have the desire to be editor or deputy editor but I know he would be a great asset for our company, even on a part-time basis.
