AFTERSHOCKS EXPECTED

The Thailand Disaster Center is warning of aftershocks following this afternoon's earthquake. Although Bangkok is more than 600 miles from the epicenter, many news outlets are reporting that people in the capital, especially those on high floors of office buildings, felt movement and shaking.
Walking down the 27 floors of the building where I was having a meeting is probably a lot like those caught up in the events of September 11 would have felt. There were so many people coming down the small stairwell that it was slow going from the eighth floor down to the ground. I would describe it as ordered chaos. It anything had happened then I, along with hundreds of others, wouldn't have stood a chance.
I'm going to sleep now and it's going to take something big to wake me up. At least it's another interesting experience I can add to the list of things I've experienced in my first 11 months in Thailand.
