BANGKOK HIT BY ANOTHER BOMB?
Some media outlets are reporting a small explosion in Bangkok yesterday evening. I use the words 'small explosion' because it does appear to be nothing more than a large firework, and add that to the fact that this wasn't in one of the areas that is generally frequented by tourists late in the evening then you'll understand that this isn't a big event.
Again some media are reporting 'Bombs in Bangkok' which simply isn't true. 'Big bang in Bangkok' just doesn't sell news, does it?

I have read that 1 person died, if this is true then I would call it a bomb.
At the time of writing the police are reporting that one person was injured when fleeing after noticing sparks coming from a paper bag close to a phone box. Police have also said they found an AA battery close to the scene.
All I am saying is that to call this a bomb, right now at least, does not seem to be correct and gives a totally distorted impression of the facts as they have been reported right now.
me again....I think you are correct, looks like just the one injury. They are pretty pathetic really and are obviously only to cause fear and nothing else.
Exactly. Whoever is behind this incident wanted the maximum publicity possible, and probably also wanted to harm Thailand's image with the rest of the world. If this was serious then I'd be the first to admit it but in the big scheme of things it really doesn't appear to be that serious. Earlier this morning is was something like the fourth most important story on The Bangkok Post's website. That gives you an idea of how much importance it's being given here.
More like a firework really.
