BUY TWO SEATS IF YOU'RE FAT
Copied from the FAQs section of the Thai Airways website:
Recommendation for Obese Passenger
For your travel comfort, the obese passenger is recommended to travel in Royal First Class or Royal Silk Class where seat is big enough for your accommodation. Should you prefer economy class, however, additional seat should be purchased for your accommodation as well.
Talking about not being politically correct! Can you imagine the outcry if, for example, British Airways had something like this on their website? Everyone knows that economy class is cramped at best, but to tell 'obese' passengers to buy an extra seat is just, well ... rude.

I don't think its rude.
Why should I have someone sitting next to me encroach on my seat that I paid fore therfore making my flight a misery all because they have no self control?
I supposed there aren't many fat Thai people around. Most of them are slim but I did noticed some rich Thai in magazines. I supposed they will be travelling First Class anyway or they may afford two seats. I do agree with anonymous about misery of sitting next to a larger passenger but I don't agree that they are fat because they have no self control.
I also fail to agree that fat people have no self control. It's true there are very few fat Thai people, but Thai Airways in marketing itself as a global airline and, as such, should be tolerant of others.
I feel everyone should be allowed to have their own opinion, hence the fact I do not censor even anonymous comments.
It's not nearly as rude as thinking it's okay to be all over the unfortunate person in the next seat.
Gee. next blog..
