EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

That has to be the motto - unofficial at least - for my company. At 11.15am this morning I was told that my boss was sick and that I'd have to interview a leading businessman for a story in one of our publications. No problem I thought.
I was then told that a car would be arriving in 25 minutes to take me and a colleague to Chonburi province (around 80 kms from Bangkok) to chat to, what turned out to be, the director and senior vice president of one of Thailand's leading property companies. Now I'm someone who likes to be prepared - so I had literally 30 minutes to get as much information on this company from the internet. The fact I had two interviews and a meeting scheduled didn't seem to matter because this man is important and we'd been trying to get a chat with him for months.
As it happened, he was one of the most down-to-earth, nicest and friendly people I have met and gave what I consider to be a great interview. I think the fact that I, an English guy, was interviewing him, a Thai, for a Japanese publication was amusing for both of us.
