I'VE HAD A BREAKDOWN
I guess it had to happen sooner or later. The taxi I was in broke down about a quarter of a mile short of my condo. We were in the right lane and waiting to turn right, so it wasn't the best place in the world for the battery (my opinion, given my very limited mechanical knowledge) to decide enough is enough. And me being me I couldn't just get out without offering to push.
That's what I did, and I know the driver was grateful even though he barely spoke any English. I couldn't help noticing the smiles of the passing drivers as the farang passenger was helping to push the taxi to a safer location. Two guys on motorbikes also stopped to help, which was nice, but by then we'd managed to edge the taxi across the four lanes to relative safety.
I walked the rest of the way home.

It was such a kind reaction of you. You surely made the passer-bys smile as it was such a lovely thing to see a foreign person trying to help another human being albeit both could barely communicate.
That was so cute.
Did you pay the taxi driver?
I did pay the fare - around 85 baht - because I was about 98 per cent home. I wonder if there is a law to say you don't need to pay if the taxi breaks down ?
