BANGKOK IN SEVEN HOURS

Yesterday we treated Sophie and Sarah to a quick tour of Bangkok. We started at Chatuchak Weekend Market which, as always, was hot and humid although somewhat less chaotic that I've seen it in past visits. From there we took them on the MRT and BTS to the 'other side' of shopping at Siam Paragon, one of the largest shopping malls in south east Asia.
We then headed to the Chao Phraya river and spent around 30 minutes on one of the many boats that ply up and down the river. People in Bangkok use these boats like buses; they're really efficient and cheap too. They also give the added bonus of allowing visitors to see some of Bangkok's major attractions from a different perspective.
After a stop at one of our favourite hawker restaurants for some hoy tod (fried mussels) and Pad Thai, we then crossed the river and gave the girls their first tuk-tuk experience on the way to Chinatown.
All in all a good day and I think Sarah and Sophie enjoyed it. We did quite a bit of walking and, because of the heat and humidity, it was quite a tiring day.
