ANOTHER HOLIDAY ?

There is talk that Monday August 20th might be made a special public holiday in Thailand. The previous day is the all-important referendum on the draft constitution, and because Thai voters will need to travel to their home towns to take part in the vote the Government is mulling the idea of allowing the extra day to make that process easier.
I guess it makes sense if it means more people will be able to take part in the vote, but purely from a business point of view it makes things difficult. If you're running a business then how can you allow for something like this with just a couple of weeks notice? The date of the vote has been known for quite a few weeks so why not announce a holiday at the same time?
