HEADLINES AROUND THE WORLD

Sunday's afternoon's tragic events in Phuket made headlines around the world on Monday. The safety of budget airlines in this part of the world has also been questioned, which is a bit premature considering weather appears to have been the most likely cause of this accident.
Even so the worry now must be the potential for damage to Thailand's hugely important tourist industry. When Thailand makes front page news in countries as diverse as Austria, Israel, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Australia, the UK, Malaysia, China, Taiwan and the United States, there is the potential for people to opt to take their holidays elsewhere.
Putting things in context this was the first serious air accident in Thailand for some nine years, and the Kingdom still remains a safe place for holidaymakers.
