THE RETURN TO PRINTED MEDIA

At a time when magazines and the print publishing industry is supposed to be in dire straights, The Wall Street Journal has announced plans to launch a new magazine next year called Pursuits. It will be distributed monthly with the Saturday edition of the newspaper.
To me this is yet another indication that the industry, certainly in North America, has gone full-circle. Readers and advertisers who deserted the print media for 'new technology' are starting to return as they realise the benefits that can only be had from a printed product.
I know I am biased because I work in the print publishing media, but I've seen many examples in recent weeks and months of this happening. You can be sure that publishers would not be investing considerable sums of money in projects like that if they weren't pretty certain of success.
Sadly Thailand is way behind. You could easily argue that the move away from print has only just begun here, but thankfully there are many ways that publishing companies can still cash in on the digital side of publishing, following the examples of their counterparts in North America.
