THE SCHOOL RUN EFFECT

Most schools in Thailand are on a month-long break. That's great. It takes at least 15 minutes less and saves around 30 baht (50p) on the taxi fare every morning. The reason is the taxi can use Sathorn, one of Bangkok's main roads and a thoroughfare you wouldn't dream of trying to use when schools are in session.
It was the same back in the UK; school holidays meant a lot less traffic. Some things don't change no matter where you are in the world.
