HAPPY NEW YEAR
Okay, it's a bit premature but I thought I should get in early just like the shopping mall at the end of my street.
Yesterday I noticed a new sign in 20ft-high letters proclaiming 'Happy New Year 2008' alongside the strings of fairy lights. New Year is far more important in terms of celebrations for most Thai people (because 98% of the population is Buddhist) and most of the Christmas-related decorations are reserved for the malls frequented by foreigners.
