NO FIREWORKS FOR NOW

November 5th came and went without so much as a sparkler. Not that I am complaining; I was never a big fan of fireworks night when I was in the UK. I wasn't really expecting to hear or see and fireworks because the reasons behind November 5th and the Gunpower Plot are rooted in British history, but I expect Thailand will more than make up for it over the coming weeks and months as the whole country gears up to celebrate the 80th birthday of His Majesty The King. There was an elaborate and colourful Royal Barge parade on the Chao Phraya River yesterday, and with the Loy Krathong celebrations on November 24th it's going to be a festive few weeks.

They’ve recently shown “V for Vendetta” on cable TV, so I guess, that’s as close you’ll get this year to Guy Fawkes celebrations.
