THE EXCHANGE GAME

If you're coming to Thailand for business or pleasure here's a tip to save you some money - wait until you arrive before changing your money into Thai baht.
Using British Pounds as an example you'll get 64.10 baht for your one pound. (Bangkok Bank's current buying rate as of 7.30am on 29/01/08). At the same time in the UK 60.07 is on offer from Nat West, the high street bank. If you're changing 500 quid you'll get up to 2,015 baht (more than 30 pounds) more for your money by waiting until you get to Thailand to change you money.
The same works when you leave. Change you money back into UK Pounds before you leave. Bangkok Bank will buy your baht and give you a rate of 65.83 whereas Nat West is offering a rate of 72.04. Changing 20,000 baht (around 300 quid) before you get home will give you at least 26 quid more in your pocket.
