OLYMPIC FLAME IN THAILAND

The Olympic torch relay is set to arrive in Bangkok next week, and with the protests of recent days in London, Paris and San Francisco I am sure the security forces here will be on high alert.
A press release last month from MCOT, the Thai government's public relations department, said: "The flame will arrive in Thailand on April 18 and on the next day the torchbearers will carry the torch from the historic Chinatown area of Yaowaraj passed Chitralada Palace, the Bangkok residence of King Bhumibol Adulyadej; The Anantasamakom Throne Hall and end the journey at the Royal Plaza in front of the throne hall."
One good thing. At least the flame will not arrive during Songkran, the Thai New Year festival and also a time when water is quite liberally thrown.
