MONEY, MONEY EVERYWHERE

I went to Money Expo for a couple of associated meetings yesterday. The event takes place every year and is hold at the Queeen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. It's open until tomorrow so there's still time to go if you're in Bangkok.
Two things amazed me. First was the apparent lack of worry from Thais about signing up for additional credit products. The credit crunch and sub-prime crisis seems a million miles away from Thailand, judging by the promotions on offer to get people to sign up for the latest trendy credit product. The investment section was comparatively quiet.
The second thing was the lack of English information. Yes, I know this is Thailand and the event is for Thais but there were two companies that went out of their way to speak to me in English and offer English language information about their products. Just two - from the several hundred service providers at the show. I only saw one other non-Thai person in my couple of hours there so I guess that's why English just isn't considered important to many companies. But the two that I spoke to - UOB (United Overseas Bank) and Muang Thai Life Assurance - could well benefit from my business in the future.
