MY BEST LIGHTNING PICTURE YET
This was the Bangkok skyline from my office window at about 5pm yesterday evening. Surprise, surprise, another storm with a spectacular lightning show thrown in. The tall building in the centre being struck is Bayoke Tower, Thailand's tallest building at 309 meters. It has 88 floors with a restaurant on the 83rd. I would not enjoyed being up there at this particular time.
I think this is my best Bangkok lightning picture yet, what do you think? Perhaps this could be the start of a new blog?

Great shot! Do you have a Flickr account? I would like to invite you to share your photos on our Flickr Group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/thailandflickr/
Thanks, Mark
wow... how long does it take to take these shots?
were you waiting for the lightning or that u happen to get it by chance?
Nice! With some tone mapping & PP you could gain even more from this shot.
Envy your job. Standing at the window and waiting for lightnings ...
Cheers! -

Quite amazing! I love it.

Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated.
I only took about 12 other shots before I got this one. I was using a one second shutter speed and I'd seen some lightning so it was just a case of hoping there would be a strike while the shutter was open. I was probably only standing at my window for about 30 seconds.
If anyone wants to see some more of my pictures you can check out www.bangkoktaxi.blogspot.com. All the pictures on that site were taken from the back of a taxi.
In another life before coming to Thailand I spent around six years as a press photographer, mainly in local newspapers and regional magazines in the UK. Getting good pictures is just as much about luck than technique though, and this picture was pretty lucky.
Very good picture. At the beginning I thought it was in front of my office (just across Lumpini) but it looks at the end from North to South. Am I right? I read everyday your blog for my work(political analisis) and also do write a blog ( sorry not in english) about my dayly life in Thailand.
Nuno. Thanks for your message.
It was taken on New Phetchburi Road between Asoke and Nana, looking in a general westerly direction. Soi Nana would be in the foreground (about 250m or so from where I took this) and Wireless (the other end of the road from you) a bit deeper into the picture.
