THAILAND'S LEADING EXPATS
The October edition of Thailand Tatler magazines comes with the annual Expat Society supplement that features 'The Definitive Guide to Thailand's Leading Expats'.
I guess I have more work to do as I don't make the list this year :-) but it's good to see that I know, have interviewed or met significantly more of the 300 than the same time last year.
Annual lists like this are great brand building tools for publishers. They take time to do well but if done well they can really add to the value of a magazine.
Thailand Tatler sells for 120 baht and is published by Blue Mango Publishing Co. Ltd. The pagination for the October edition stretches to more than 250 pages which, in my view, is great value for money.

Hmm, maybe Thailand Tatler knows to print that supplement, but at yesterdays Expat Society at the Four Seasons it wasn't that fancy expat world they tried to suggest.
OK, we had an Aston Martin to marvel at, but the food was gone after an hour, no refills and the pseudo lingerie fashion show wasn't really what those leading expats wanted to see, was it.
Many disgruntled faces, at least there's the consolidation of the supplement ...

However, the red wine may have been sourish and the white wine strange, but it's always interesting to see the - supposedly - cream of the local expats gathered in a single hall.
Haven't seen the list you mention, but I'd assume most were not there.

Sure, if you are obsessed with bling and fellow-moneyed souls showing off their ridiculous jewellery and making ostentatious fashion statements in a country where millions of people live pitifully for a month on what these empty clowns spend on lunch.
Value for money in the sense of the pagination versus cover price. As you will probably know there are similar priced magazines that offer less than half the number of pages.
And I doubt there is a better selling English monthly magazine in the Kindgom. but I do understand your points about the moral issues you have raised.
