BANGKOK'S BEST PLACE FOR MAGAZINES
This place has not changed in many years. One stall at Chatuchak Weekend Market is a Mecca for people like me with a seriously unhealthy interest in magazines from around the world, a small budget as well as a passion for publications that simple don't appear in Asia Books or Kinokuniya.
Take this example - the August local edition of Forbes Philippines - which is probably the only copy of this title to make it to Bangkok.
How does this happen?
As I have written before what happens is cleaners from the airports recycle magazines from the inbound flights, and they end up at this particular stall at the market.
Time, The Economist and Fortune are all available for about a quarter of the cost elsewhere, even though they are the 'Subscriber Copy' editions meant solely for airline distribution. Foreign magazines, titles from elsewhere in Asia - when I'm there I really am a kid in a candy store.
It's the best place for magazine junkies in Bangkok.
