IS THIS THE END OF PAYWALLS?
I have to be honest and say I have always been somewhat skeptical of content paywalls. Unless you have truly niche and unique content, why should an online reader pay to access it when the same, or very similar content is available for free elsewhere?
Now it seems U.K. newspaper The Sun has the same views.
From November 30 it will be removing its content paywall in what is says are part of exciting plans to grow its online audience.
The Sun first introduced its paywall back in July 2013 and has been widely recognised as missing out on online advertising budget as a result. It trails other U.K. daily newspapers in terms of online page views, and whether this move will be enough by itself to re-attract some of the readers it will have lost over the past two-and-a-half years will be something we will only know in time.
Do you pay for online content? If so how much and for what? Have your say here ...
