A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Bangkok, the City of Angels and capital of the Land of Smiles (LoS), will be my new home soon and today I will be starting on the LONG road to get there - legally. I read somewhere that there are about 10,000 British expats in Thailand, and probably double that number who have overstayed their visas. I think bureaucracy in the LoS is almost as common as Phad Thai, although I am more than willing to be convinced otherwise. I'll be phoning one of the Thai consulates here in the UK to make sure I am applying for the right kind of visa (there are around 12 available) and I haven't even started to think about my work permit !
