BANGKOK BOOM FOR CHRISTMAS?

Move over New York - Bangkok is fast becoming a favourite destination for Brits looking for a bargain-hunting short break before Christmas. Even with the weak US dollar the report from lastminute.com rates New York as the top choice with Bangkok, Boston, Singapore and Milan ranking as up-and-coming alternatives.
Bangkok is certainly the place to come for bargains. Many guidebooks describe it as a shopping mecca and I can vouch for that, spending at least one day each weekend in the malls and markets.
It seems the 11+ hours flight isn't going to put of the cost-conscious Brits who, more often that not, feel that prices in their own country have risen too far.
