PUBLIC CRITICISM

It's an inevitable part of publishing that you're never going to please all the people all of the time. And today's inter-connected world means, quite rightly, that people are free to express their views and opinions about your publication in many ways, including message boards, forums and blogs.
I regularly Google the name of our magazines to see what people are writing about us, and when comments are in Thai I ask my colleagues for a translation.
In recent months we've seen a few comments regarding the standard of our translations, and in typical Donald Trump style I have replied to each comment, thanking the poster for their comments and asking them to contact me directly with specific examples of anything they feel we are doing wrong.
I'm not too concerned about the translation issue because we've had far more positive comments as opposed to the few negatives ones but so often it's the negative ones that are read more so they need to be tackled.
So far I've not received a single email from the messages I left asking for examples. It makes me wonder whether the author is from another publication and is just trying to damage our reputation?
