MAGAZINES FEEL THE PINCH
Two of Thailand's business magazines have morphed into one single publication. Business.Com and eLeader, published by ARIP, were two separate magazines until very recently. Now they are one with two 'front' covers. I think it's appalling that readers will still see two covers in the shops. The magazine now comes in a sealed plastic bag with the second cover (actually the back page) covered with a promotional piece of paper. It's not until you get the magazine out of the bag you will realize what has happened. And this being Thailand there's no indication on the front cover of either magazine of this new development. Unprofessional or what? Actually the unprofessionalism extends further. The strapline on Business.Com says "Failed and feeling Chaina" (not China) and the cover headline on eLeader says "Case Study: Hafele the leader in furniture fittings part".
If the aim for Thai publications using English is to reflect some kind of status then they should at least make an effort to get it right, both grammatically and also with spelling.

A few other magazines have followed this new trend:
"Business Owner/Life and Insurance"
and lately "Audiophile/Videophile"
Jerome. Thanks for your message.
Yes, for publishers it makes financial sense to combine two titles BUT for readers and advertisers you only get half the product you did previously.
