THE POWER OF BLOGS

David Meerman-Scott is an expert when it comes to the power of blogs and viral marketing. I cannot recommend his book 'The New Rules of Marketing and PR' highly enough for anyone who wants to break away from traditional forms of marketing, advertising and PR.
I've had a first hand example of the power of blogs this past month because the site that referred the most number of visitors to my Thai language magazine's website was a Thai language blog. The point is that blogs have power and influence.
In Thailand the fact is that much is being written on Thai language blogs that English readers cannot monitor. I wonder how many overseas publishers, as an example, regularly google their publications title in Thai? Not many I suspect. Yet things are being written all the time - some good and some bad. It's not just publishers though; the same applies for a wide variety of products and companies.

Thanks for mentioning my book. Yes, blogs are an amazing thing. Even if you're not writing a blog, every organization should know what is being said about them on blogs.

In that case, you had better start learning to read Thai!

Bkkdreamer - yes, although I do have Thai colleagues that alert me to anything being said about my magazines and the company in general. David - thanks for stopping by. I guess you've highlighted the point I am trying to make perfectly by commenting within a few hours of my blog mentioning your name and book.
