MORE TALES FROM THE TAXI

Strange things seem to happen to me in Bangkok taxis. On Wednesday of this week I took one to a meeting at one of the big hotels on Sukhumvit. Just as the cab was pulling up a small incline towards the entrance there was an almighty clanking noise from underneath the car. The exhaust had fallen off !
The driver just smiled. I think he said something like "Oh don't worry, that's always happening" but it was in Thai and I wasn't too sure. I walked the final 20 meters to the entrance as the cab was obviously not going anywhere fast.
